How to Boil Shrimp
Shrimp, or Prawns as they are referred to in other countries, are one the most popular seafood. They are easy to prepare and can be used on their own with dipping sauces or as part of a dish such as a salad.
To cook 1 to 2 lbs of shrimp you'll need:
1 to 2 lbs shrimp
Juice of 1 lemon
1 heaped teaspoon kosher salt
In a large saucepan, add water until three quarters full, add the lemon juice and salt. Bring to a boil.
Add the shrimp (with their shells still on) to the boiling water and cook for 3 to 5 minutes depending on the size. The shrimp are cooked when they turn bright pink.
Drain in a colander and allow to cool before removing the shells and tails.
Shrimp has a better flavor when they are boiled with their shells and tails on.
