Entertaining: Cafe Style

The inspiration for this menu came from a recent trip to New Zealand. The cafe scene has influenced much of New Zealand cuisine, and it's so easy to replicate this casual style of entertaining in your own home.

Lamb Shanks
with mashed potatoes
and steamed green vegetables

Chilled Lemon Cream

What to drink?

A Pinot Noir would be perfect with the lamb, especially if it's from New Zealand. If you want to be a little extravagant, serve a dessert wine such as Muscat with the Lemon Cream.

How to Serve?

Use bold colored and patterned table linens for a more casual setting. Make use of seasonal flowers for a centerpiece, or for another alternative, have bowls piled with lemons as a centerpiece.

Timetable

This is a great "make ahead of time" menu. The lamb shanks can be made up to 48 hours before your dinner party and reheated just before serving. The Lemon Cream can be made the day before.
